Remembrance in London 2016
From November 11-13
An important day each year, Remembrance Sunday is a day for the nation to remember and honour those who have sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom. Visit London explains that “a service and parade takes place at the Cenotaph in Whitehall which is attended by the Queen as well as politicians and military representatives. You can attend a ceremony of remembrance at 11am in the Imperial War Museum London’s atrium on both Armistice Day (11 November) and Remembrance Sunday (13 November), where you can also find out more about the wars and their impact through the museum’s extensive collection and exhibitions.” This day is definitely not to be missed.

Winter Festival at Southbank
From November 11- January 25
Nothing screams winter in London like the winter festival at the Southbank Centre. Clustered along the riverbank, the Southbank Centre’s winter market's wooden chalets are filled with festive food, drinks, gifts and treats. Enjoy mulled wine, quality edibles and handmade crafts while taking in the sights and sounds of London at Christmas time (from Southbank Centre). There are also shows, pop-up stalls, musicals, performances, activities and much more!

If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind event to attend, look no further than Hair, by Sam McKnight. Timeout meeting describes Hair as “An exhibition championing Sam McKnight's impressive 40-year career in hair-styling. As one of the first stylists to have solely carved a career in the fashion world, McKnight's portfolio spans beautiful blow drys, braids and waves for editorial shoots, ad campaigns and catwalk shows.” The show exhibits key collaborators such as Nick Knight, and models such as Kate Moss and Christy Turlington.

The Radical Eye: Modernist Photography from the Sir Elton John Collection

If you are craving an autumn afternoon in an art gallery, The Radical Eye exhibition may be for you. The Tate Modern describes this event as “a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see one of the world’s greatest private collections of photography, drawn from the classic Modernist period of the 1920s–50s. An incredible group of Man Ray portraits are exhibited together for the first time, having been brought together by Sir Elton John over the past twenty-five years, including portraits of Matisse, Picasso, and Breton.”

Lord Mayor's Show
On November 12th
With more than 7,000 people, 200 horses and 150 floats, the Lord Mayors show isn’t something to be missed. According to Wikipedia, “The Lord Mayor's Show is one of the best-known annual events in London as well as one of the longest-established, dating back to the 16th century.” The parade consists of samba dancing, military marching bands and follows a three mile procession from Mansion House, past St Paul's Cathedral to the Royal Courts of Justice and back to Mansion House via Victoria Embankment (from City of London).
