1. Tennis at Wimbledon
Experience one of Britain’s biggest and most popular events by stopping at one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments. While there may be lots of queuing (part of the experience), there are strawberries, cream and some fantastic tennis to be enjoyed. Tickets for Wimbledon can be booked by entering the public ballot which gives a chance of getting a ticket. Other tickets go on sale online, but can also be found on the day, unlike other major sporting events. These tickets give you the chance to watch games on courts 3 to 19, where you can still come across some of the greatest names in the tennis world.

2. Sunshine gigs

Most notable of summer gigs is the British Summer Time Hyde Park, held over two weekends (30th June – 2nd July, 6th July – 9th July). Past years have seen fantastic headliners such as Florence and the Machine, Mumford and Sons, Stevie Wonder and Arcade Fire. This year’s event will be headlined by the likes of The Killers, Phil Collins, Justin Bieber and Kings of Leon, promising to be one of the most exciting musical events of the year.

3. Visit a rooftop bar

Rooftop bars open up all over London in the summer months, and are certainly not an opportunity to miss, and there’s something for everyone. For a more showy, high-rise experience, Rumpus Room atop the South Bank’s Mondrian hotel offers fantastic views over St Paul’s Cathedral, inspired DJs and delicious drinks. For more of a rustic evening, go for Frank’s Café in Peckham – a pop-up atop a multi-storey carpark. The venue offers a selection of drinks and delicious street foods, and is definitely not one to miss.
Horse Riding
4. Go for a horse ride

You can go horse riding in Hyde Park or Richmond Park, an activity that is open to people of all skill levels. The stables have well-mannered horses and cover several miles of each park, making this a fantastic and exciting way to see the parks. Whether a surprise for a friend or a casual Saturday afternoon activity, horse riding is something unique that can definitely help break any monotony.
Market Vegetables
5. Visit local markets
Going out for the day to visit parks is a great way to spend a sunny afternoon, particularly on a weekend. These have some of the best summer produce available (much better than any supermarket, for sure!), and are all over the city. Make sure to check out the Brixton Village Market, open every day of the week, and with live music on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Greenwich Market is another one to pop into, offering unique crafted pieces and foods that are a must for every visitor, or local, in London.
