Five sink designs for your bathroom

Published: 09/05/2017

A well-designed bathroom can be the difference between a great flat and an average one. Cumulatively, it’s a room you can end up spending a lot of time in. One thing is certain, if you have guests around, you certainly don’t want them to think your bathroom is unwelcoming in any way. Bathroom design has come a long way in the past decades, and sinks are a central point of this room. Our team highlight 5 of their favourite sink designs below.
1. Incorporating vintage furniture
Depending on the overall style of your home, incorporating vintage furniture can add plenty of character to the room. Choose a vintage table that suits other styles in your home and get to work! This is an inexpensive and classy way to make your bathroom look a little stylish, and can even serve a double purpose as storage space if you choose to use a cupboard.

2. Trough Sink

Common sinks are everywhere, but if you’re looking for something a little more interesting, a trough sink may be what you’re after. Great for smaller bathrooms, they make the most of any space available, giving a little extra sink space. Besides this, watching the water ebb away is undeniably satisfying!
3. Two’s company
Having two sinks in your bathroom can be both stylish and practical. If you live with your partner and you both like to keep your products in a particular way, this is the solution for you. This is also an ideal solution if you both lead busy lives and need the bathroom at the same time – or merely just appreciate the aesthetic. This can also be incorporated into idea No. 2, as you can have two (or as many as you wish!) taps for one trough sink.

4. Expose the plumbing

Bathroom plumbing is mostly tucked away, only to be seen when a problem arises. However, you can turn this around and give your sink a modern touch by exposing the elements of your plumbing system. Copper or brass pipes are great for this, as they look great and don’t need too much maintenance or cleaning.
5. Give your sink some add-ons
Like IKEA have done with their LILLÅNGEN design, you can have a series of add-ons attached to your bathroom sink. Not only do these attachments look great, they are extremely functional and will help your sink be tidier and cleaner. No more cleaning soapy residue off the back of the sink!
These bathroom sink designs are just some of our favourite ways to keep your bathroom looking clean and modern, while adding a lot of style in an often-neglected part of the home. Sinks and washbasins are no longer what they used to be – white, dull porcelain bowls. They’re now a space to express the style of your home in a welcoming way to your family and guests.
