A focus on Bermondsey - great places to eat and drink

Published: 02/11/2016

London SE1 – the newest addition to London’s ‘hotspots’ plays host to the mecca of food and drink: Bermondsey. The docks of Bermondsey helped build its reputation as the ‘Larder of London’ where the first tinned food was produced. Nowadays the food has come a long way, and a vast array of restaurants from around the world have sprouted to make Bermondsey a foodie heaven.
1. Tanner & Co
Paying tribute to the ‘tanneries’ of London, Tanner & Co bring a modern twist on their traditional food. The appreciation of its history doesn’t stop at the food, with even the staff donning leather aprons to match those of the tanneries. Nestled between London Bridge station and Tower Bridge on Bermondsey Street, Tanner & Co offer a great range of contemporary comfort food, alongside a lengthy cocktail list. For those of you with big appetites, they even offer Bottomless Brunch and Sunday Lunch.

5. Bermondsey Yard Café
Once a disused car park, Bermondsey Yard Café has been stripped back to its original industrial design features for a unique dining experience. Seasonal dishes are prepared using locally sourced ingredients leaving the dinner satisfied, if not slightly confused as to where they are in fact sitting. A car park? You have to see it to believe it.
